The author Pelle Molin has written about “the fairytale valley”, by which he means the breathtaking beauty of the river Ångermanälven, which flows through the entire district.
Faxälven and Fjällsjöälven are major river systems. In the centre of Sollefteå you can fish for salmon and sea trout. Higher up in the rivers you can also fish for many other kinds of freshwater fish that exist in the northern part of Sweden.
There is also an undeveloped stretch of the river Faxälven which offers top-class fishing for grayling. If you want to fish by boat you can go to some of the larger lakes in Ramsele or Junsele and fish for large char, brown trout and even land-locked salmon.
